BRGR – Cranberry, PA

We saw ads in magazines and have heard a lot of friends talking about this place called BRGR. After all the buzz and talk we decided to try it out and see what it was all about…

With only two locations in the Pittsburgh area we decided to try the one located only about 20 miles north of Down Town Pittsburgh in Cranberry.

We walked right into a very open floor plan with a very large oval bar right in the middle with a couple dozen beer taps that caught my(Jay) eye. They had booths along the perimeter and tables scattered about. Being we had gone in winter the patio was still available for seating, but was fully inclosed and well heated. What also caught our eye was a single fireplace with a low table surrounded by six comfy chairs. This more intimate area would be perfect for a get together with friends or a small party.

We started off our order with an interesting appetizer; Bacon Wrapped Meatballs, served over egg noodles. We had the option to choose BBQ sauce or gravy. With the recommendation from our waitress to try the gravy we did and it was unexpectedly delicious. The noodles were tender and the gravy was light, sweet and very flavorful with chunks of bacon and sautéed onions. With a burst of flavor the meatballs wrapped in bacon were a perfect combination with the gravy and noodles. We highly recommend this appetizer, especially to the meat lover inside you! One thing to remember about this appetizer is that it’s small with only three meatballs. Filling enough for two due to the egg noodles.

Although the simple menu offered many options for burgers such as beef, chicken, fish and veggie, we decided to build our own burgers.

I (Jay) went with an angus patty cooked well on a brioche bun with american cheese, bacon, avocado and a fried egg. The burger was juicy and all the toppings were fresh.

Cee decided to also go with an angus patty well done on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, avocado and bacon. This burger was also cooked perfectly to order, juicy and fresh toppings.

All condiments were already on the table for you to use at your discretion and sides are not included with the burgers. We ordered a side of tots and parmesan and herb fries. The sides are large and can easily be shared.

Since we were celebrating Valentines Day early we splurged on a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich and a dark chocolate milkshake to share. Cee was not impressed with the cookie ice cream sandwich because the cookie was very hard and the ice cream was practically melted by the time it got to the table. The dark chocolate shake was decent and very similar to a Wendy’s frosty. I(Jay) on the other hand, pretty much ate the majority of the ice cream sandwich and thought it wasn’t that bad and thought the shake was pretty tasty (not much like a Wendy’s frosty).

We would definitely go back and would love to try other appetizers, burgers and other items from the menu.
